Gun Cleaning for Beginners is a 90-minute class focused on cleaning and maintenance of common handguns (Striker-fire, 1911, Blow-back, and Revolvers). This is a lecture style class and though it includes demonstrations using actual handguns, it is not intended to directly have students cleaning their own guns in class*. Gun safety, unloading, field stripping, cleaning, function checks, and maintenance will be covered and each class will focus on the gun types of those in attendance. This class also included a copy of Guy Relford’s book “Gun Safety and Cleaning for Dummies”
The class is available two to three times throughout the month; please refer to our online training calendar for scheduling. Click here

- Student’s may bring their own handgun to the class to “follow along” with the process of cleaning. If a student wants to do this, they should arrive early to the class allowing the Instructor to ensure that the gun is cleared and to install a Barrel Blok rendering the gun unable to fire. Indy Arms takes no responsibility for any student action or issues disassembling and reassembling their own guns, any damage done to student’s guns by their actions, or any injuries sustained through such actions. The instructor will not assist any student in their manipulation of their own handgun at any time during the class (other than to render the gun clear at the start of class, and to remove the Barrel Blok at the end of class). If a student disassembles their own handgun and is unable to reassemble the gun, the instructor can not assist in any way. The student will need to turn the gun parts over to Indy Arms’ service department for reassemble (normal charges will apply).
***Please arrive 15- 20 minutes early to complete the necessary check in process before any training class. This will give us time to verify your range waiver at the counter. This is also the time to buy ammo, holster, hearing and/ or eye protection or anything else you will need for the class. Classes start promptly and we don’t want you to miss anything.***
Students arriving more than 10 minutes after the designated start time may not be allowed into class and will need to reschedule
