FUNDAMENTALS OF ARMED SELF DEFENSE

Fundamentals of Armed Self Defense is a class for students with a serious interest in the issues that surround the ownership and/or carrying of firearms for self-defense. It is a class that is unique in the Indianapolis area (and to some degree, nationally). It brings the combined resources of Indy Arms Co., Tactical Firearms Training LLC, and Tactical Training Associates, Inc. to the task of exploring these issues.

Most people who chose to arm themselves for self-defense are confronted with dozens of critical questions that go beyond the simple possession of a firearm and acquiring the basic mechanical skills to use it. Many of the answers they have acquired from well-meaning friends and relatives, from the “folk wisdom”, and via the internet (often dispensed by self-appointed “experts”) are simply wrong. Sometimes they are dangerously wrong, in both the legal and physical sense. And it’s hard to tell.

Fundamentals of Armed Self Defense addresses those questions with reliable answers that present a coherent and practical understanding of the subject. The class is taught by two instructors with genuine and recognized expertise in addressing these questions.

Guy Relford, CEO of Tactical Firearms Training LLC, is perhaps the leading attorney in Indiana on the subject of firearms and self-defense law, specializing specifically in these areas. He teaches numerous classes in firearms-related law, basic use of firearms, and practical defensive firearms. Many of you will know him from his weekly radio program on the subject, WIBC’s “Gun Guy”. You would be hard-pressed to find an individual more knowledgeable about the complicated intersection of law and self-defense.

Tony Gregory is CEO of Tactical Training Associates, Inc., and Indy Arms Training Coordinator and Lead Instructor. He is a 27-year veteran police officer and trainer, and holds 60 Instructor certificates in firearms, physical tactics, secondary weapons, and use-of-force. He works as a Court-certified Expert Witness in use-of-force cases. He is a Master Instructor in several disciplines, has taught internationally, and has training programs in use all over the U.S., and as far away as Hong Kong, Britain, and Trinidad Tobago.

The course addresses issues of firearms safety (the most critical concern), the legal possession and use of firearms in self-defense (much of what you know is wrong), managing the aftermath of a self-defense shooting (it’s more challenging than you imagine), the psychology and physiology of a deadly-force encounter (something you must understand in advance), and the selection of firearms, ammo, and support equipment (which is confounding to many people). Lunch is provided, and there is an opportunity for informal questions and discussion during the lunch break.

This is a classroom-only, non-shooting course. It is suitable for experienced shooters, novices, or individuals who are simply considering whether to acquire a firearm for self-defense. The class is eight hours long, and runs from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM, with an hour allowed for lunch and discussion. A Certificate of Completion, issued by Indy Arms Co. and Tactical Firearms Training LLC, is awarded.

Cost: $175.00
